ASK Initiative
-
Pray for the Father to place me into his kingdom work. Ask Him where I need to be focused in His kingdom work.
-
Research and identify a work that God is already doing or create a plan for a new mission centered work. Seek others among the Brooks family to engage with you towards this specific effort.
-
Take action. Work! Place myself into the Father’s kingdom work as a planner, worker and advocate with the expectation that He has already provided significantly for some of the financial needs of the work.
-
Encourage individuals and families among us to take kingdom action now, not in the distant future.
Seed kingdom efforts with funds that are set aside and known to be available to individuals among us who present themselves as workers, co-laboring with the Lord.
Apply the Lord’s blessings more directly to kingdom work that will glorify his name and fan into flames hearts within the Brooks family.
Promote a culture of spiritual ventureship by creating examples among us of individuals and families who think ahead from year to year how they may present themselves as kingdom servants for specific works that God has called them to and for which he has gifted them.
Promote a principle of “Our money goes where our people go.” The Spirit leads hearts and the Father supplies the need.
-
1- It is anticipated that applicants will use their own funds or raised funds as available, but the ASK initiative will provide funds towards the applicant’s travel to the mission site, as a baseline.
2- Amount of funding for each applicant is determined by a current need of the identified kingdom work. The applicant will determine what funding may be needed to fulfill a specific portion of the kingdom work that is being undertaken by the mission partner.
3- Monetary amounts of grants are suggested by the applicant’s research and proposal, as reviewed by the elders or designees. Amounts granted are a kingdom gift and shall not be considered negotiable or cause for debate.
-
1- A minimum of 5 planned days of full engagement in the designated kingdom work.
2- Meet with the elders and/or mission team to present the opportunity and your heart for being a part of it.
3- All kingdom work to be considered must have a significant purpose of drawing people to Christ via teaching. Service projects may be considered, which also have teaching as a part of the plan.
4- A written plan including:
a. Detailed mission purpose. A detailed written description with objectives, spiritual goals and desired outcomes.
b. Results of preliminary contact with mission leaders on the ground with verification of a welcome invitation from them and a preliminary understanding of what work would be done during a visit.
c. A description of the applicant’s knowledge of the mission area- history, language, past receptivity, demography of the people, etc.
d. Funding request and plan for use of funds.
e. A written statement/plan for engaging as many people from Brooks Avenue in the plan and implementation.
f. A written and/or verbal report (after returning) to the congregation of how God blessed the work.
5- The ASK Initiative request must be submitted at least 3 months prior to the beginning of the work, to allow detailed planning and maximum Brooks Avenue engagement.
6- The kingdom worker must show a spiritual focus and plan towards personal growth, prayer and study in preparation for the work.
7- The kingdom worker must be a current member of Brooks Avenue who has been physically in regular attendance for at least 6 months.
8- College students from Brooks Avenue may be considered, only if they are currently active members of BA and plan to return to Brooks Avenue for at least one summer subsequent to their kingdom work. College sponsored group trips that are a part of a standard curriculum of a university are less likely to be considered unless an applicant can show a significant personal engagement in the planning of the kingdom work as more than just a participant.
9- Grants are made at the discretion of the elders and/or their designees and are based on strong spiritual character, an eagerness to plan, an eagerness to grow, an eagerness to work and a willingness to encourage BA as a part of their kingdom work.
